Who is Jesse Bloome?
My first passion was soccer. I can’t even express how much of my life I spent outside kicking things around. Games, tournaments, pick-up, crossbar challenges, indoor, outdoor, futsal, soccer tennis, soccer camps, power & finesse, pk shootouts, trampoline soccer, lightning, rondos, elmos, and scrimmages. That passion has stayed with me, and at any given time I’d love to just kick something around.
At any grade level, if you had asked me what my favorite class was, I’d say science. Science represents such a perfect mix of mathematics, estimation, real-world connectedness, and curiosity, and I truly believe we’re all scientists at heart. At it’s most basic level, science is just observation, and at it’s most complex, it can reveal astounding truths about the nature of the universe. But whether it’s bottle rockets or Apollo 11, understanding the physics, biology, and chemistry of how things work will never cease to fascinate me.
Computer Science is to me, the biology of the modern technological era. As someone who grew up going to computer labs in elementary school, and joining social media before I could drive, computers, and the internet have just always been there. And just like with anything else, I like figuring out what makes something tick. One important aspect to me, is that Computer Science is not only a scientific pursuit, but an artistic one. Producing programs, designing websites, and ultimately finding solutions to complex problems takes creativity. And I’m sure anyone who has ever coded can relate to the satisfaction and achievement of your code doing exactly what is was meant to do.
